Below
are helpful energy saving tips when you are moving into
a new home or for your exiciting house.
Perhaps you would like to install sensor lighting in your new home after moving in. A guaranteed way to save energy and money.
Automatic Lighting Automatically Saves
Homeowners in search of efficiency have been turning to a new technology to suit their lighting needs. They have been installing “occupancy sensors.” These sensors automatically signal a light to turn on or off according to the presence of people in the room.
The sensors react to motion or sounds; they can actually detect the infrared radiation coming off of a person’s body and respond accordingly.
They are usually placed on the walls or ceilings for maximum vantage. You can easily turn off the sensor with a flick of a switch if you need to.
Now, if you don’t have the sensor lighting yet, or if you only have it in parts of your house, that is no excuse to get lazy. Remember to make the room dark before you leave. Practice leaving a dark room behind you, even when you are only leaving for a short period of time.
Also, use low wattage bulbs and install compact fluorescents. This will save energy.

Lighting accounts for 17% of total annual U.S. electricity consumption. If you remember to turn off the lights you can reduce the amount of lighting energy you use by about half. And don’t forget the economic and environmental impacts your contribution will make.
