Packing Tips for Moving Boxes

Below are helpful energy saving tips when you are moving into a new home or for your exiciting house.

More tips for staying healthy and efficient in your new home.

Keeping The Air Fresh Indoors

Did you know that lousy indoor air quality is responsible for millions of cases of allergies, asthma, chronic fatigue and other ailments. Often times a person is beset by chronic illness and finally finds out that the air in their very own house is responsible.

In 1995 the EPA made a statement to the Senate that indoor air pollution is now the nation’s number one environmental concern. So why does everyone have the newest video game but not the newest air filter? You have a  new home or apartment, it is time to get up to speed.

Author PeteBillac, wrote a book called The Silent Killers about indoor air pollution that details the dangers. His son was terribly ill, suffering every two months from migraine headaches, vomiting, stomach cramps and fever, so Billac flew him around the world looking for an answer from a doctor. None had one, until he met a man named Ken Harris.
Harris offered him an air filter, saying his son could be suffering severe reactions to indoor air conditions from trapped dust, mold, etc.

Billac was skeptical but amazingly the cleaner air ended the ailments and set Billac off on a research binge, discovering that air inside houses is typically four to five times worse that air outside, even in industrial areas.

Just think about it, it’s hard to get proper ventilation in your house and all the junk and dirt you carry around with you stays and just gets bounced around, resettles and gets bounced around again, all the while you breathe it in!

Tips for your family’s health:

Buy an air filter and dehumidifier. Modern technology is helping us out with new techniques to attract crud out of the air or to force it to settle on the floor where you can clean it.

If you have a carpet, it is especially important that you get an air filter because the carpet traps pollutants and with every step you take dirt bounces up and recirculates into the air. Decent air filters are relatively affordable these days. Do some research and find out more.

• Keep up with household cleaning. Dust mites, pollens, dandruff from you and your animals, mold and other pollutants can be controlled somewhat through regular cleaning. Dusting is especially important.

Use fans vented to the outdoors, especially in your kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms. Open windows and get outside as much as possible, we were born to breathe fresh air.

• You may not be there very often but it is important to ventilate the attic and crawl space to prevent moisture buildup, which leads to mold and poor air conditions. Keep humidity in these areas below fifty percent.

• Keep your humidifiers and dehumidifiers clean. They can be breeding ground for contaminants. Evaporation trays in air conditioners and refrigerators are other areas of concern.

• If you suffer water damage on your carpet consider removing or replacing it. A wet carpet can grow mold and bacteria and it is not easy to get rid of these contaminants once they have grown.

• And let us remind you again. Beware of the noxious fumes given off by household cleaning products. Never mix ammonia and bleach. Do your best to use natural products. top of page
