The "How To" for packing certain moving items

How To Pack Your Computer

Packaging & Moving supplies needed:

A. Adhesive packaging Tape
B. Plastic bags
C. Small pieces of cardboard
D. Computer original cartons and foam forms
-or- Two sets of moving boxes, one larger than the other (for double-boxing item)
E. Styrofoam peanuts.

Packing Tips: Make sure and remove all floppy disks and CD-Roms from inside your computers disk drive before packing.

Instructions for packing:

- Start by backing up all important files on your computer. It is recommended burning files on to CD-Roms because they are more versatile and store better then floppy disks.
- Pack disks in a separate box, away from anything magnetic.
- Color code all wires and cables with making color codes at the connection holes. This will help you reconnect your computer faster and keep wires more organized.
- Place all computer components into plastic bags (zip lock bag) to keep dust and dirt out during the move.
- If original cardboard boxes are unavailable, then use the double-box solution. Start by filling the smaller of the 2 boxes with packaging materials such as bubble wrap or styrofoam peanuts. Then place the monitor or computer( which should be covered with a plastic bag or stretch wrap) into the middle of this box. Next, fill the second larger box with packaging peanuts or bubble warp and place the first smaller box inside of it.
- If your printer is small enough, then you can pack it with your computer. Remember to take out printer cartridges.
- Label the box "Computer Fragile" and seal shut.
