DIY garment bag for packing your clothes

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

When you are packing up your closet for moving, we strongly suggest using wardrobe moving boxes to help you keep all your clothing very safe and make for fast and easy packing.  If you don’t have any wardrobe moving boxes, then another method you can use to protect your clothing is a garment bag. Most people have at least 1 garment bag, which they usually got for free with a purchase of a suit or dress but if you don’t have one don’t worry, we’ll show you how to make one in a jiffy.

Simply take one large garbage bag and make a 4 inch hole at the bottom of the bag. Next, take a group of clothing on the hangers and put them into the garbage bag through the large opening till the hanger tops are sticking out of the small  ripped hole. Once that done, take a rubber band and tie it around the hanger tops to keep them together. After that, you can fold the bag with your clothing in half and place into a boxor luggage.

This do it yourself garment bag will keep your clothing from getting wrinkled and offers good protection from dust and stains.

Yes its moving time and everybody wants to get packed as fast as possible and try to keep things neat so unpacking will be easy. So when it comes time for packing your closet, most people turn to the best choice in doing this chore, wardrobe moving boxes.

Most people don’t realize that when you hang your clothing on the metal bar (which is included in our wardrobe box) in the wardrobe moving boxes there will be additional space at the bottom of the box. Please keep in mind that if you have long dresses they will probably touch the bottom of the box but if you have dress shirts or slacks the wardrobe moving boxes will give you clear and clean space at the bottom for additional belongings.

So what stuff should you pack at the bottom of your wardrobe boxes? Well items such as shoes, sneakers, socks, belts and even hats fit perfectly at the bottom of this large box.  When packing boxes being a little creative can help you utilize the space in your box to fit a lot more then you think.

Always remember to keep the weight of each moving box manageable to lift.
