Winter Moving Supplies – Part 2
Thursday, January 5th, 2012
If you’re moving during the winter you will need take some more precautions before you begin your move. For example, you will want to try to back the moving truck into the loading area as close as possible. If you can back the truck into your front door, you may be able to connect the ramp from the back of the truck into your house. This will create the least amount of exposure of the elements to your moving boxes.
During the packing process, you will need to mark your moving boxes that contain items that may get damaged from freezing. Any items that contain liquid may burst if they freeze, which can ruin that item and other items surrounding it. Place a big red “x” on the top and side of all boxes that need to stay above freezing. These boxes will need to be transported in your car or in a heated truck.
Other moving supplies that are required during the winter months include plastic tarps, slip resistant ramps and shovels. You never know when it will snow or rain, causing icy and unfavorable climate conditions. Make sure your moving truck has snow tires to ensure your safety during the drive.
