Keep your dog calm during moving day

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Yes, moving day can be stressful for you if everything is not planed out correctly. If you have a pet such as a dog, they will also feel the stress of your move because they will see you packing boxes and moving around of furniture and be scared and stressed out also.

Tips to help you pet deal with moving day:
1) Long walk. Yes, you will be busy but your dog is part of the family and taking it for a long walk the day of your move will relax and calm your dog. Also it can help you do some last minute thinking to make sure everything is packed.

2) Snacks. Everybody loves snacks and your poochie does to. Make sure to pick up a bag of yummy treats for your furry friend and show them some love during your move by giving them a treat every now and then. Apples and carrots make good health snacks.

3) Toys. Ok the squeaks of the squeaky ball might drive you a little crazy during your move but maybe a toy that doesn’t squeak that much such as doll or bone to keep your dog entertained.

4) Bed. Nothing is better to your dog then its soft, comfortable bed that it has slept on for so long.

If you have packed all your dogs toys and items into moving boxes already then try to make an effort to make your dog feel comfortable. You can even take one of your empty moving boxes and create a bed for your dog by simply placing a T-shirt or towel inside so they can lay down and relax. Remember dogs and other animals are not like humans, they don’t understand what moving is but can feel stress and pressure of it because of the energy you let off. So take a little time out for your doggie to help them cope with your move, after all, they love you.

Its true that most of your personal items such as furniture loose value when they leave the store. So to get top dollars for items you want to sell, try some of the below tips:

For example, that coffee table you want to sell looks boring, try putting a candle holder with nice candles on top of it to make it look more interesting. Or if your selling a lamp, try putting it next to a sofa with some books stacked next to it so people can visualize and relate to using it.

The free item can be cheap but will make people feel like there getting a better deal. For example, a lamp for sale can include free bulb, coffee table for sale can include free drink coasters or  candle holder, leather sofa for sale can include bottle of cleaning solution.

Selling stuff to help pay for Moving Boxes

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

So you want to raise some money to help pay for your move, buy moving boxes or just so you can purchase stuff for your new place. Things to keep in mind when selling items:

1) Post them for sale in multiple places. For example, flyers at local grocery stores and online classifieds.

2) Always start selling these items in advance. Usa at least 4-6 weeks before your moving day so to have enough time to sell items.

3) Make sure you use “staging” for your items to ensure they look great. For this example look at the photos above of the sofa for sale. In the 1st picture the sofa looks nice but in the 2nd picture it looks perfect. The 2nd picture gives people the feeling of having it in their house. This was created by simple “staging” using lamps and coffee table to make the sofa look more appealing to people by showing it to them in a life like setting.

Always remember the better your item looks in its for sale sign the more responses you will get. If you are not getting a lot of responses on your item try lowering the price or offering something free along with it.
