Tips on packing cardboard boxes using moving supplies
Packing Couch

Storage |
Q.
I am getting ready to move a couch and loveseat to a storage unit for a couple of months. They are made of a suede material, how should I pack them to make sure that they will be safe when in storage? |
A. In my opinion, I would just place the couch and loveseat on top of a blanket in the storage unit. This will protect the legs from getting scratched when carrying it in and out of the storage unit. Also, place a thin material sheet on top of the couch and loveseat. This will help protect against scratches when people enter and leave the storage unit, as well as letting moisture through. Couch storage on end:
If your couch ends are flat, placing them on end will defiantly save a lot of space in storage. Just remember to place it on end on top of a blanket to protect it from scratches. Also, take the couch cushions off and place one on top of the other on a blanket on the storage unit floor.
Do Not: - Do not cover your couch with plastic; this will prevent moisture from escaping the leather, causing damage. Example: When furniture stores deliver a sofa, they make sure to place some holes in the plastic covering it, so that moisture can escape.
- Do not store cardboard boxes on top of the seat cushions. The corners of anything square (boxes, books) will leave a permanent mark in the cushion.
Remember: A storage unit is like a volt; there is no sunlight, moisture or people getting in once it is locked up. Storage facilities are usually made of concrete, which prevents moisture from getting through the walls and have very little impact by outside climates. Your couch should stay in good shape during its storage stay.
