Professional Advice on Packing Moving Boxes
Packing Valuable Items in boxes
When it comes to priceless items such as family heirlooms and jewelry it is wise not to let moving companies pack them. The insurable value will not come anywhere close to the value you place on them if they should be damaged or lost during the moving process.
A good example such items are, sports memorabilia, hobby collections, jewelry and photo albums. It is recommended
the you pack these precious items yourself into a carry-on luggage or separate moving boxes, and take them with you into your car. Remember to use proper moving supplies such as bubble wrap, ink less paper and stretch wrap when
packing these fragile items.
Quick Packing Tip: To help prevent theft for items that will not be by your side during every moment of your move, label those moving boxes with a description that you will only know what it means.
For example: Small moving boxes filled with vintage baseball cards should not say "Vintage baseball cards" on the outside. Doing so will guarantee that you will be missing some or all. Perhaps labeling the boxes with something like "fragile, family photos". For your larger moving boxes, a label of "dirty laundry" should do the trick. In any scenes you really want to get creative.
